A picture is worth a thousand words. Yes, a picture can convey what might take many words to express. One picture can tell a story as well as a thousand words. I have compiled photos that for me are the most powerful photos ever taken.

A vulture watches a starving, dying child, probably awaiting its death. |
I came across of this photo three years ago, when one of my colleague in Manulife emailed this. It was taken by Kevin Carter in 1944, and won a Pulitzer Prize, but it was subject to too much criticism. Some condemn photographer Kevin Carter for taking a photograph rather than helping the child. Sadly, the photographer commited suicide soon after.

A bad guy killing a good guy? |
this picture is not what you think it is......
This photo ultimately won the Pulitzer Prize for spot photography. This photo is an evidence that photo can tell half of the story. This photo was taken by Eddie Adams, and it gave him a lifelong fame. After shooting the prisoner, the executioner walked past the photographer and said "he killed many of your soldiers, and many of my men. Later the photographer said that the picture didn’t tell the story and that he was sorry he took it. I've read the entire story and have found out how this photo destroyed the police Chief"s life.
Before he died in 2004, the Pulitzer Prize-winning war photographer Eddie Adams said of his most famous shot (above): 'Pictures
do lie'.

The guy kisses his girlfriend after
she was knocked to the ground by a police officer's riot shield in
Vancouver, British Columbia. In the interview, the guy said that he's trying to calm down his girlfriend as she was getting hysterical on whats happening.
Well, sometimes amidst the violence and chaos, something good and heart warming can happen.
